What to Do?You could quite happily spend the whole of your stay relaxing in and around the apartments in Mavarcica taking advantage of the quiet beach and crystal clear waters of this delightful fishing cove. For the more adventurous there are many opportunities to take part in more active pursuits which can be found in the area. Our page on the locality provides information on local places of interest whilst here we look at activities. Diving
Right outside your front door the local Trogir Diving Club meet on a regular basis so you could not be in a better place to dive. With its crystal clear waters Croatia is a popular place for diving. The government is keen to protect its heritage and restricts diving in a number of sensitive areas including some national parks. Unaccompanied divers also need to be appropriately qualified and have a diving card that costs around 100 Kuna. Locally however the Trogir diving center welcomes all divers and can if necessary supply all equipment required. In the local bay you will find octopus, seahorses, sea fan, coral, spiny lobster and much more. Further information is available from the Trogir Diving Center web site. More information on diving in general in Croatia is avilable at http://www.diving.hr/. BirdingCroatia's geography is unique. Its wide variation from high moutains to wide forests to beautiful coastline supports an extensive range of 252 species in 45 families including 4 rare and endangered species. More information on birding can be found at Birding Pal and Croatia Hotspots. Walking/Hiking
Croatia is a walker's paradise. There are plenty of opportunities for walking around Mavarcica and Ciovo. For the more adventurous - and petrol assisted - the national parks in Croatia offer almost limitless possibilities. One of the most popular is the Plitvice Lakes where you can walk between the lakes and their connecting water falls. MountaineeringCroatia has a long history of mountaineering having had a national body since the early 1800s. Not surprisingly with so many mountains to choose from options are practically endless. Even nearby islands such as Brac offer real mountaineering oportunities. More information is available from the Croatian Mountaineering Society. TennisThere are oppoprtunities to play tennis at a number of nearby facilities. If you want coaching as well this is sometimes available although it tends to be supplied as part of larger packages. JST Tennis provide year round tennis camps and may be able to offer an apropriate package for you. SkiingWe would not necessarily recommend Croatia as a skiing destination but if you are there in the skiing season then you might want to try either Bjelolasica or Sljeme but both are some distance from Trogir. |
